The GT Sundancer was a collaboration between AMC and the Griffith Corporation of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. These cars were fitted with a fixed Targa band, removable fiberglass T -tops, and a droppable canvas rear top that was strengthened with rolled steel support gussets and 14 pieces of super-structure underneath to replace the rigidity lost with the removal of the top. This limited edition ‘convertible’ featured a 258-cid six-cylinder engine (capable of producing 110 hp) and an automatic transmission. Relatively few were actually made, reportedly less than 150, and even fewer survived.

Highlights:

  • A collaboration between AMC and Griffith Corp. of Florida
  • Less than 200 of these convertible conversions were built
  • Price new: $7,213
