A limited production Trans Am was introduced for its 10th anniversary in 1979. It was officially priced at $10,600 but a limited production of just 7,500 led to speculative asking prices in excess of $30,000. It featured a distinctive silver and charcoal paint scheme, T-bar roof with silver tint glass hatches, silver interior with leather upholstery and “Turbo Alloy” wheels. It was also equipped with power everything. The standard engine was the Oldsmobile 403 cid ohv V-8 producing 185 horsepower.  A 400 cid Pontiac engine was available only in the limited edition 10thanniversary model and produced over 220 horsepower. A few were teamed with a four-speed manual gearbox.
