1972 wasn’t a kind year for the American muscle car, and the Buick Skylark GS was no exception. Government restrictions and high gas prices resulted in a dwindling muscle car market. Although the engine output did not change for 1972, new government regulations required net power ratings, dropping the bhp to 195 from the previous 260.The GSX was still available, but the standard ram air induction piece was changed.  A total of 852 GS convertibles were produced in 1972.
