The Dodge Charger was produced from 1966 through 1978, 1983 through 1987, and again beginning in 2006. The Charger was redesigned for 1968, with hidden headlights and new body contours. The 117 inch wheelbase featured a longer, lower hood line and a wind spoiler that was an integral part of the rear deck. The grille was of a bright decorative aluminum molding. This new design was a success, sales soared to over 92,000. The standard engine was the 318 cid V8 and options included the 383 with a two barrel -carburetor, the 426 Hemi, and the 440 Magnum. The car featured here has the 383 cid V8 producing 290 horsepower but the R/T version was even more powerful featuring the Dodge Magnum 440 cid engine. The 383 version sold for a base price of $3040. A total of 96,100 1968 Dodge Chargers were produced.
