In 1968 Chrysler was introduced with four models -The Newport, Newport Custom, 300, and the New Yorker. The Newport series, which included the Town and Country wagon, came in six body styles: the basic 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop and convertible, a 4-door hardtop sedan, and the 6 and 9 passenger Town and Country wagons. The 1968 Chrysler models saw a facelift with changes in the front bumper, grille, and the federally mandated side markers in the back. The Town and Country wagons came with additional standard equipment which included vinyl imitation wood grain side panels, power brakes, power steering, a power tailgate window, and deluxe wheel covers, to name just a few. The Chrysler Newport Custom came in three body styles: a 2-door and 4-door hardtop and a 4-door sedan. The 300 offered a 2- and 4-door hardtop and convertible, while the New Yorker had available a 2 and 4-door sedan, as well as a 4-door hardtop. Prices ranged from $3727.00 for the basic Newport to $4595.00 for the New Yorker. Engines for 1968 started with a base 383 cid V8 @350 hp to the full-powered 440 cid @ 375 hp, depending on model and body style.
