The Bantam cars, built in Butler, Pa. From 1938 through 1941, were the follow-on to American Austin, built there between 1930 and 1934. Styling of the Bantam was little changed from the American Austin of the early ‘30s. Based on the English Austin 7 chassis and 4-cylinder 45 cid engine, the car cost slightly more than a Model A Ford and could never compete in the marketplace.

Highlights:

  • Produced between 1939 and 1940, only 134 of the Hollywood model were produced
  • Last year for the American Bantam
  • Price new: $540
